EBV rash- Patients with infectious mononucleosis are sometimes misdiagnosed with a
streptococcal pharyngitis
- Classical clinical triad of
fever, pharyngitis and adenopathy looks similar
- May be given beta lactam antibiotics
- 80–90% of patients will then develop a red, diffuse rash
- Rash is often assumed to be a penicillin allergy
Somatic symptoms in depression- Vague aches and pain are often the presenting symptoms of depression
- Symptoms include:
- Chronic joint pain
- Limb pain
- Back pain
- Gastrointestinal problems
- Tiredness
- Sleep disturbances
- Psychomotor activity changes
- Appetite changes
Notes
- A cecal mass (tumour etc) obstructing the lumen of the appendix can cause appendicitis
