  • Without intrinsic sympathomimetic activity (ISA)

  • Decreases heart rate, contractility and cardiac output, therefore decreasing blood pressure

Excretion

• • Short half-life, therefore must be taken at least twice daily or as a slow-release preparation

  • Metabolized in the liver to inactive metabolites
