EBV rash
Patients with infectious mononucleosis are sometimes misdiagnosed with a streptococcal pharyngitis
Classical clinical triad of fever, pharyngitis and adenopathy looks similar
May be given beta lactam antibiotics
80–90% of patients will then develop a red, diffuse rash
Rash is often assumed to be a penicillin allergy
Somatic symptoms in depression
Vague aches and pain are often the presenting symptoms of depression
Symptoms include:
Chronic joint pain
Limb pain
Back pain
Gastrointestinal problems
Tiredness
Sleep disturbances
Psychomotor activity changes
Appetite changes
Notes
A cecal mass (tumour etc) obstructing the lumen of the appendix can cause appendicitis
