• • AST more than double ALT suggests an alcoholic aetiology

  • ALT more than AST suggests Hepatitis or NAFLD

Causes of a raised INR

• • Warfarin

  • Liver disease

  • Vitamin K deficiency

    • Check by giving them Vit K

  • Clotting factor deficit

Notes

• • Propanolol for portal hypertension

  • Portal hypertension => Splenomegaly => Low platelets
